Maharashtra: 13 dead, over 25 injured as bus falls into ditch in Raigad

At least 13 people were killed and over 25 others were injured after a bus fell into a ditch in Maharashtra's Raigad district in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.

The accident occurred at 4:30 am on the Pune-Raigad border, while the bus was travelling from Pune's Pimple Gurav to Goregaon. The bus was carrying 41 passengers at the time of the accident.

Rescue operations are presently underway.

"Seven people died and more than 25 were injured after the bus fell into a ditch in Raigad's Khopoli area. Rescue operations are underway," Raigad SP Somnath Gharge told India Today.

Police and rescue officials reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident.

Ambulances and police vehicles were seen parked on the side of the road near the spot where the accident took place.
